Spirit Animal: Gilbert the Fish
SPECIES: Deeply Concerned Fish
TEMPERAMENT: Dramatic. Watchful. Emotionally damp.
HABITAT: Quiet corners, awkward conversations, group chats he did not ask to be added to, and anywhere someone says, “quick question.”
SPECIAL SKILLS: Floating through nonsense. Judging silently. Surviving with a face that says everything he is too polite to say.
Gilbert’s Story
Gilbert is not here to inspire you to become your highest self before breakfast.
Gilbert is here for the people who are trying their best, but their best currently has eye bags, attitude, and a suspicious amount of coffee.
He is the patron saint of emotional buffering.
He knows what it is like to wake up, look around, and think,
“Absolutely not. Who approved this?”
But here is the thing about Gilbert: he keeps swimming.
Not gracefully.
Not enthusiastically.
Not with a motivational podcast playing in the background.
But he keeps going.
Gilbert reminds us that resilience does not always look like confidence. Sometimes resilience looks like a fish with a thousand-yard stare, floating through life’s nonsense one mildly concerning moment at a time.
He is for the overthinkers.
The tired ones.
The “I’m fine” people who are very obviously not fine.
The ones who need a minute, a snack, a nap, and possibly a complete life rebrand.
Gilbert does not pretend everything is okay.
He simply blinks into the void and says,
“Well. We’re still here.”
And honestly, some days, that is enough.
The gold sketching in each Spirit Animal marks the unfinished place.
Not as a mistake.
Not as something missing.
But as a symbol of the story still waiting to be written.
We are all part paint, part outline, part becoming.
The gold is there to remind you that the unfinished parts of your life still hold beauty, meaning, and light.
